The Role of the Counselor

by: Kenita Dickerson Guidance Counselor

As an educator and an advising adult, we support students in every aspect of school life.

The middle school years are an opportunity for "self-discovery". We encourage preparation for learning as well as participation in activities throughout the academic year.

The counselor has the opportunity to discuss whatever is of concern to the students, from the math exam, that seemed so difficult, to the latest school spirit award. The ultimate goal of the counselor is to assist students in becoming respectful, productive, life-long learners. Life-long learners will achieve, if we show them that we believe in them first!
