In
the past several years, MS 180Q has experienced
numerous administrative inconsistencies. 2001 was
designated as the year of MS 180Q's rebirth. The
rebirth began with Administrative changes and
enhancements.
District
Superintendent Matthew Bromme placed MS 180Q under
the leadership of Mr. George Giberti, Ms. Monica
Murphy, Ms. Anne Marie Wachter and Ms. Eileen
Green. Since the start of the 2001-2002 year, MS
180Q has undergone a revivication process. Several
initiatives have been undertaken to change
community perceptions of MS 180Q.
MS
180Q has designed a strategy to incorporate its
Magnet initiative with the District's Advanced
Regents Program, which will provide unique
educational opportunities for our staff and
students with within the Rockaways.
During
the 2001-2002 school year, MS 180Q took the
following steps:

a Right Choice Program

its Attendance Improvement Program

an Alternative to Suspension

- Received
a $3,000.00 Parent Involvement Grant

the school's art offerings to our
students

parent participation

Initiative:

and Forensic Sciences
- Launched
the District's Advanced
Regents Program
- Reestablished
relationships with Beach Channel High School:

Over
the next several months the changes in our school
became obvious. MS 180Q's staff, parents and
administrative team have revitalized and
strengthened the school's mission
and offerings for our students and community.
Through these ongoing efforts and the continued
support of our local community, MS 180 continues on
it's path toward being the best middle school on
the entire peninsula.
