P.S. 124 is the proud recipient of a Comprehensive School Reform Demonstration Grant. The Core Knowledge sequence used in grades Pre-kindergarten through grade five provides a detailed outline of specific content to be taught in language arts, history, geography, mathematics, science and the arts. As the core of the school's curriculum, it provides a solid, coherent foundation of learning, while allowing flexibility to meet local needs and New York State standards.

As a natural extension of the Core Knowledge sequence, P.S. 124 has chosen to focus its magnet initiative on the interrelated themes of economics and technology. Building upon the school community's interest in school-to-work, the goal of the magnet program will be to prepare all P.S. 124 students to become capable individuals who will successfully assimilate into the 21st century work force and become productive citizens.
