"I can only make music that I care about. I can't listen to the people
who say I'm too-good-to-be-true. Girl Power! means being myself—Brandy. I'm not
going to lower my standards. I'll continue to surround myself with beautiful,

Brandy's roots are in McComb, Mississippi, but she moved to Southern California with her
family when she was very young. Growing up singing gospel music with her father, she voiced
her determination to become a professional singer at the young age of four. With the support
of her parents,
who serve as hermanagers now, Brandy became a musical success hitting the Billboard Top Ten at
the age of 15.
Her singing success is only the beginning though. She has since been starring in the hit show
"Moesha" on UPN, and played the title role in ABC's "Cinderella." She has had a chance to try out the big
screen as well
in the movie I Still Know.
As a believer in community service and giving back to the community, Brandy has founded, along with her younger
brother Ray J., the Norwood Kids Foundation (NKF). NKF is a non-profit organization founded in 1997 to help young
people. In addition to working with Brandy on NKF, Ray J. has followed in his sister's singing and acting footsteps.
Along with these other projects, Brandy has continued to sing her heart out. Her long-awaited second album "Never Say Never"
was released in June 1998. Once again it seems Brandy's talent and determination has paid off.
