Language Arts

In Language Arts, we develop reading, writing, speaking and listening skills. In grade six, the fundamentals of English language arts are begun. During grade seven, the diversity of literary forms, sentence diagramming and other more complex concepts are presented. Great literature and the classics are introduced in grade eight.

Whenever possible, we attempt to expose students to the wonders of live performances. We have seen dancers, the opera and have been to Radio City. We also participate in the District 20 Story Telling Contest and numerous contests including the Lincoln-Douglas Debates.

Our magnet program in Language Arts centers around creative writing, poetry, and the development of a program in Law and Literature.
