In Special Education, children follow the same curriculum as regular education classes. The Special Education classes have some modifications and appropriate remediation.

Mainstreaming is an integral part of the Special Education concept. Whenever possible, children in Special Education classes are placed into regular classes when they are ready to take advantage of such experiences. Special Education students participate in the Law Studies Program, the Architecture and Design Program, and the Fine Arts Programs (Art, Instrumental Band and Chorus). Special Education classes take advantage of the computer rooms and use appropriate software.

All school activities are open to Special Education students-ranging from membership in Arista (the school's honor society for students with the highest grades) to participation in the art contests and helping in school wide activities, such as the Team-Up-to-Clean-Up Campaign. Trips and guest speakers are used to make students more interested in a wide variety of learning experiences.

Our magnet program was designed with Special Education as an integral component. All special magnet programs are open to Special Education students.

In the present school year the business has been expanded to include button making and engraving.
