The middle school typing program is designed to enable students to develop touch typing skills. Typing class notes, reports and homework are all practical uses of this vital skill. In addition, we supplement instruction in language arts skills, with emphasis on spelling, punctuation, syllabication, paragraphing and capitalization.
Competitions help to motivate children and provide a form of
regard for those who do exceptionally well. Many divisions are represented in
the typing competition so that many students are winners. Trips are arranged to show students how keyboarding skills
are used in the real world. They learn how important these crucial skills are
for all of us.
Guest speakers from colleges, high schools and businesses are invited to give students more information on the practical application of their newly acquired skill.
Word processors are used on an individual basis and visits to
the computer room are scheduled for more practice without computers. This
program enables students to have the opportunity to become familiar with Apple
and IBM Computers.
