The International Academy

The International Academy promotes interdisciplinary explorations of international issues and how they affect the diverse school community. The International Academy Program provides global studies curriculum integrated with literacy, math, science, social studies, and cultural arts. The program capitalizes on the many diverse cultures of the community. This is exemplified through the school’s dual language Chinese program. Thematic studies include the immigrant experience, global awareness through geographic studies, and a program in conflict resolution.
Technology is integrated into all curriculum areas. The use of computers allows students to engage in interdisciplinary learning. Projects are designed to give students the opportunity to work collaboratively with their peers and to develop higher-order thinking skills.
