The Greening of Ditmas is an after-school gardening club whose goal are to foster an understanding  and appreciation of nature through active participation in the garden.   A hands-on approach introduces students to plant identification, maintainance and care; propagation; composting with worms; planting techniques; using cold frames to jumpstart and extend the growing season, just to name a few areas of interest.

Throughout the year, students use analytical skills to lay out, measure, design and build new areas.  The garden is constantly evolving.  The members learn life long skills in working cooperatively and gain insight into their strengths and abilities to effect changes in their environment through their efforts.
