PS 101 and the Common Core Standards
PS 101 began our work with the Common Core Standards at the end of the 2009-2010 school year by aligning our Curriculum maps with the new standards. Additionally we applied to be part of a Pilot program for NYC in adapting and integrating the new standards. As part of the Pilot program, in 2010-11 select staff members on every grade attended weekly meetings in which we aligned our tasks and teaching to the new standards. We will continue our efforts to ensure that our teaching practices are aligned to the new standards and that we continue to give your children the best education in NYC.

What are the Common Core Standards (CCS)?
The CCS is a nationwide effort to raise the bar and prepare all children to be college and career ready. New York City has adopted the CCS as part of a Race to the Top Grant which gave the city millions of dollars.
