Volunteer of the Month

Text Box: P.S. 102 - BOOKS OF THE MONTH
Grade K: The Red Book, by Barbara Lehman
Grades 1-5 : Punctuation Takes a Vacation, by Robin Pulver
Karen Elsayed has been a fixture at PS 102 since her elder daughter, Sara, began attending school here 7 years ago.  Perhaps fixture is the wrong word. Karen is a mover and a shaker who plays an important role in many PS 102 activities and works hard at nearly all PTA and school events. She has served on the PTA Executive Board as Treasurer and Corresponding Secretary, has chaired school picture, graduation and candy sale committees and served on the School Leadership Team for 3 years.  Karen has also been a Learning Leader for 5 years.  She welcomes staff, parents and students with her disarming smile and outgoing personality.  She is full of great ideas and up for trying new things. When you do not see Karen at the school, you will find her at the library tutoring children in math. Karen and her daughters are active in Girl Scouts and she is the leader of Junior Troop 2-088 - the oldest troop in Brooklyn! The Elsayeds also enjoy performing in local community theatre groups.  We will certainly miss Karen when Amy graduates this year, but I have a feeling she will remain an important part of the PS 102 community.  When you see this wonderful parent volunteer please thank her for giving so much to our school and to all of our kids.

PAJAMAS IN SCHOOL? WACKY

WEDNESDAY? APRIL FOOLS?  PS 102 teachers, students, parents and staff members work hard and sometimes we like to remember that PS 102 is a fun place to learn. It was wonderful to see so many parents at the March Parent-Teacher Conferences.  If you were unable to attend, your child’s teacher would still like to meet with you.  It’s not too late to call the main office to make an appointment. SPRING IS HERE AT LAST – ENJOY!
