Welcome to the Parent Coordinator's Page. My name is Margaret Sheri
and I can be reached at :

(347) 563-4586, or (718) 748-7404 X 432, or MElliotSheri@schools.nyc.gov

My job is to identify ways parents can work with the school as partners in educating their children and to encourage parents to become more involved in the school community. I approach my job with three firmly held beliefs:

1) All parents want the best possible education for their child.
2) Mrs. Dovi and the staff of PS 102 are dedicated to providing a quality education for all of our children.

3) Parent involvement is key to a child's success in school.

Currently, I am working on coordinating the Learning Leaders school volunteer program, maintaining a list of ESL resources, volunteer translators, tutors and the parent information board & table, building and maintaining a parent resource library on-line and in Room 432, vision screening with parent volunteers, finding and coordinating parent workshops, working with the PTA and school staff on monthly school spirit events, working on special events like our Beach Clean-Up, TV Turnoff Week, Kermess and Grandparent's Day, addressing parent questions and concerns and finally on development of this web site and a monthly parent newsletter (see below for back issues). If you are interested in volunteering time, goods or services to PS 102, please call me! There are many ways to help out on a regular basis or on special projects as you are able.

Your child's classroom teacher should always be your first contact to discuss what is going on with your individual child. Send a note to the teacher asking for him or her to call you or for a written response. You may also leave a message for the teacher by calling the main office (718) 748-7404. Be sure to leave your name, child's name and the best time and place where the teacher can reach you. Teachers have prep periods during the week where they can schedule time to call or meet with parents.

Please check back here often for updates and check out our TIPS page for practical information on testing, parent-teacher conferences, etc. You can also sign on the PTA's Email List for updates on PTA and school activities. ps102pta@yahoo.com.

Many thanks,
Margaret Sheri
