Drug and Alcohol Abuse Prevention Program

This year our school participated in a Drug and Alcohol Abuse Prevention Program. The most important part of this program was the important education we received. We learned of the dangers of drugs and alcohol, and the harm it causes to our bodies, both physically and emotionally.
We were involved in many types of projects for this program from researching the dangers of smoking, to posters dealing with peer pressure, and a quilt with the message “Just Saying No”. My classmates and I enjoyed the program especially because it may save some of our lives someday.
I know this program was a very valuable learning experience because children are not always aware of the dangers of drug abuse. As a result, they easily become drug and alcohol users which can seriously affect their health and other innocent children who want to be like their friends. We now know drug and alcohol abuse in not “cool” and it is not something we should copy because it is dangerous.
All of the children who participated in the Drug and Alcohol Abuse Prevention Program now realize how lucky they were for this experience. The most important thing we can do today and in the future is to share the drug and alcohol abuse education we received with other children who did not have the benefit of this valuable experience.
