Project Read

The Project Read District 20 After School Reading Program is based on the Commitment of Chancellor Rudolph F. Crew, Ed.D., to provide the opportunity for the attainment of high standards for all students.
At P.S. 204, we have seven Project Read classes. The program is in session three afternoons per week. Literacy instruction includes interactive reading, read aloud, author studies, independent and paired reading, reading conferences, guided reading and creative dramatizations. An arts component was included with LEAP (Learning Through an Expanded Arts Program). The students were involved in bookmaking, puppets, visual arts, music and creative dramatics.
Project Read was a very successful experience for everyone involved.
