Learning Fair by the second grade.

Bchiri's Class: 2-204
The class created a depiction of a Lower
East Side street without electricity and showing some clothes
lines. The project was inspired by the story Peppe,
The Lamplighter by Elisa Bartone.

Ms.
Jame's Class: 2-206
Class 2-206 posed as newspaper reporters and completed
research on the Ottendorfer Library, which is the oldest
library in New York City. |
Ms.
Harmatz's Class: 2-202
The students studied their community. Then they created
pop-up books telling about their community, their family,
and a job in their community. They also made self portraits
and wrote about either a job they have had or would like
to have.

Ms.
Lui's Class: 2-208
Class 2-208 completed research
projects on pumpkins. They expressed and wrote about what
they know, what they want to know, and what they learned
about pumpkins. They read books, participated in read alouds
and surfed the internet for more facts. The class visited
the Green Meadow Farm and received pumpkins to take home.
Lastly, the students tasted homemade pumpkin pie and cookies.
Families of class 2-208 shared some of their favorite recipes
on "pumpkin cooking" from their homes.

Ms.
Chen's Class: 2-346
Children of class 2-346 did a project about the community
of the Lower East Side. Through reading books, maps, interviewing
people, observing places, taking photographs, going on trips,
singing songs, reciting poems, writing plays, writing stories,
the children made colorful shaped books, trip photo books
and a collatge mural depicting business and caretakers in
the neighborhood. Art works were creatd in Art Studio with
Ms. Kufert. Songs were sung with Ms. Sherman. |
