Using
the New York State Standards and following the Core
Curriculum as a foundation for math instruction, teachers
engage their students in a rigorous math program. Innovative
teaching strategies include student grouping, standard
and alternate assessment, hands-on instruction with
the use of manipulatives, and the combining of literacy
and mathematics in problem solving. Administrators and
teachers continue to focus on making math relevant to
the lives of their students and to show the importance
of mathematics in daily life.
