Barry Daub
Principal
Barry R. Daub currently serves as Principal of P811M The Mickey Mantle School. He holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree majoring in Psychology and Sociology, a Master’s of Science Degree in Special Education-Behavior Disorders, and an advanced degree in Educational Leadership all from Hunter College. The majority of his teaching experience has been with middle and high school students with learning and behavior disabilities.
Along with his expertise in technology, finance and organizational management, Mr. Daub believes that the social/emotional component is clearly the most important aspect of a child’s life. He believes that turning out young adults who are confident, know how to work well together, care for others, treat people with respect, and possess a sense of self-worth is as deep a commitment as pointing students towards academic achievement. It is with these beliefs and goals in mind that Mr. Daub has worked tirelessly to help integrate Character Education into the fabric of P811Ms school mores. Programs that include but are not limited to Life Space Crisis Intervention, Don’t Laugh at Me, Educators for Social Responsibilities, 4R’s and Resolving Conflict Creatively Program, Developmental Assets Grant and The Positive Behavior Initiative Support Grant along with the use of interactive social skills software and other academic applications all contribute to a school culture that allows for respect for differences, tolerance, and above all else, enduring peace and safety for our children.
