Internet Use Policies

  RIGHTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Every student, faculty and staff member of the FDA community may apply for an account on the FDA network in order to use the network for applications including electronic mail and access to the Internet. In signing the Consent and Waiver, a member of the FDA community agrees to abide by FDA’s Code of Conduct For Computer And Network Use (pages 3, 4). Parents have the right to deny their children access to the Internet through the FDA's facilities and can elect to have their child’s network account modified so that Internet access is prohibited.

Access to computer systems and networks owned by FDA imposes certain responsibilities and obligations on all who use them. Access is granted subject to FDA policy and local, state, and federal law. Infractions of FDA’s Code of Conduct will result in curtailing of access to network and/or computer lab facilities, as well as referral to appropriate supervisor for disciplinary action. Infractions of scholarly ethical standards, such as plagiarism from a site's resources, will be handled by the school's administration in the same manner as other such infractions.

While FDA does provide access and makes every effort to supervise resource use, it does not offer warranties for services or resources. Users navigate the Internet and use information at their own risk. Furthermore, while FDA will make every effort to see that its service is dependable, no guarantee is made as to the range of its availability or its reliability.
