Italy

Students at FDA begin Latin in the seventh grade. The program focuses on the study of language, culture and history. Students who excel in the class are invited to travel to Rome, Italy during the mid-winter break.

In February, 2000 twenty-four students engaged in a in-depth study of ancient Rome which included research, guided visits and reflective journals on the Coliseum, Forum, Palatine, Circus Maximus, Pantheon and Pompeii.

Students learned about the connection between the civilization of the ancients and the creations of the Renaissance through trips to the Vatican, the Borghese Museum and a day trip to Florence.
