Mission Statement
We are committed to creating  a nurturing environment that will enable all students to learn and achieve high academic standards. We envision our students developing into lifelong learners, active thinkers, responsible and caring citizens. Towards this goal, we will work collaboratively with students, staff, parents and the community to prepare our students for the 21st century.

Community Outreach Programs
Our School Leadership Team allows for regular collaboration with parents and has provided a new structure for decision making. Through our Project Arts program, we have formed partnerships with Lincoln Center, Music Outreach, and Feld Ballet. While also enjoying partnerships with the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, we will continue efforts to expand in this area.

Special Projects & Programs
We have established a school wide math block this year utilizing the Chicago Math program in grades 1-5. We are continuing our school wide literacy block utilizing the Balanced Early Literacy program (B.E.L.) in Gr. K-2, Reading Recovery in Gr. 1, MacMillan's Spotlight on Literacy (Gr. 3-5) and The Five Types of Writing program in Gr. 3-5.

As a Project Arts School, our students are exposed to performing and .visual arts through participation in Theatre Moves , Lincoln Center, Feld Ballet and Music Outreach
Our updated computer lab has Internet Access. Computers are now in the library and many of our classrooms. We will continue our chess program and will begin a new school chorus this year.
As of September 2000, we are now a Scholastic Program School. This will enable us to provide intervention services for our students as well as professional development for our staff and parents.

Additional Information
A major change in our collaborative structure was the addition of a new principal and assistant principal. This has resulted in a focused mission, a school wide literacy and math block, a staff development program that is differentiated and ongoing, the increase of computers in the classroom instruction, a working Parent Teacher Association and School Leadership Team.

At the Anne Hutchinson School, we believe in the capacity of all students to make progress given sufficient time and support. We recognize the commitment and collaboration coupled with available resources are the key ingredients for student success. We, at the Anne Hutchinson School, are eager and willing to meet these challenges.
