Each student's Individualized Education Plan (IEP) determines his or her placement in classes and special services received within the ISS Department and throughout the school and, often, the community. IEPs for students at Grover Cleveland High School are overseen by Ms. Donna Williams (Assistant Principal, as per New York State guidelines, in Room 152. They are provided to, and should be read by, all school professionals involved in the education and management of our students.
The IEP is a document mandated by the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (most recently in 2004). All IEPs are written specifically to identify and fill the needs of individual students. Components included in all IEPs are the following:
IEPs also include other pertinent information found necessary by the team, such as health or behavior plans for some students. Additionally, when the student reaches high school, a statement of post-secondary goals and a plan for providing what the student needs to make a successful transition are required. Please see our Transitions Page for additional details.
