Reading

Our annual "BEAR" Day Celebration was again a wonderful day at P.S. 90. Our celebration took place on March 16, 2001. This year guest readers included many District staff, staff members of various local politicians, Queensborough Public Library Representatives, a representative from Project Aviation, parents, staff, and other adults. A Paraprofessional from our school volunteered to dress as a bear and brought a special excitement about reading to all of our classes. The day long celebration about reading had upper grade children going into lower grade classes and reading their favorite stories to them. The enthusiasm continued with a BEAR Day poster contest, math class bear estimation problems, staff bear estimation problems, and the continued reminder from Mrs. Embriano, Ms. Ubertini, and Mr. Rollo to "READ, READ, READ"!
Special District Representatives, including Deputy Superintendent Mr. Martin Weinstein, read their favorite stories to classes on Bear Day.

Many interesting number stories were submitted about the candy inside the bear! Yummy!

Miss McHugh's Kindergardeners are getting ready for their very first BEAR day! The P.S. 90 Bear stopped in for a visit to check on their excitement!

Ms. Mele reads her favorite story, The Math Curse to Ms. Haft and Ms. Scalza's VISTA fourth graders.
