Q. What kind of career did you have before you were a principal?
A. My career before I became Principal of P.S. 97 was that of an educator in a variety of areas. Being a teacher was my first position. I taught many different grades. I was assistant principal for 2 years and I also was in charge of a math program. I worked on a school leadership team, the CEP, and gave workshops for teachers.
Q.Why do you like being a principal?
A. I had been working with students for 28 years. I have taught kindergarten through ninth grade. It was suggested that I become an assistant principal. I enjoyed doing the job and I had great passion for learning. I touched many childrens' lives and the students have touched my life. This has had a rewarding impact on both the students I come in contact with each day as well as myself.
Q. What are your favorite things about our school or community?
A. I enjoy seeing how students are serious about school. They are caring young people and they're very respectful. Our teachers are professionals who care about the students and parents in our school community.
Q. What are our future dreams/plans for our school?
A. P.S. 97 can be the best school in the City and our students can be the best citizens.
Q. Is there anything else you would like to tell us?
A. I've always dreamed of being an educator. Today is as exciting as the first day I stepped into a classroom. My hope is that the students, teachers and parents will remember that I care about them.
