"CLASSROOM AND COURSE POLICY"

 

  1. Be on time and ready to do work. Bring HARD-COVERED COMPOSITION NOTEBOOK 8-1/2” x 11”, FOLDER (for handouts) and PEN DAILY.

 

  1. All assignments must be done on 8-1/2” x 11” paper, typed or written legibly in blue or black ink. A heading including name, class, assignment number and title is required.

 

  1. ALL MISSED WORK INCLUDING CLASS NOTES AND WEEKLY SUMMARIES ARE TO BE MADE UP WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME.

 

  1. Students are required to be taking notes and following class discussions in class.

 

  1. All students are encouraged to participate in the intellectual discussion of divergent views. To promote the exchange of views, student must raise hands seeking permission to speak, and must be called upon before speaking.

 

  1. Students and teacher will treat each other with respect. Insults, put-downs and cursing is unacceptable behavior.

 

  1. Permission to leave the room is to be requested; only one person at a time may leave.

 

  1. Prohibited in the classroom: walkmans, disc players, personal grooming eating and young children.

 

  1. Please turn to vibrate cell phones and beepers in classroom.

 

GRADING POLICY

Students’ grade will be based upon:

EXAMS 40%

NOTEBOOK GRADE 20%

CLASS PARTICIPATION 20%

PROJECT 20%

**CONSISTENT ATTENDANCE IS REQUIRED FOR ALL OF THE ABOVE**

PROJECT 

A  total of 9 weekly, consecutive news articles dealing with U.S. government must be submitted with a written analysis including :  why student chose this article and what this article says about U.S. government. Students will choose 1 article from the 9 to research in depth and submit 2 type written pages on the topic.  Topics must be approved by Mrs. Wolosky.
