REFLECTION ESSAY

The first experience that I had of the tragedy was when I called my friend’s sister and she told me what had happened. At first I thought she was playing games with me. However, when I turned on the news there it was; they were showing the second plane crashing into Building Two. I was very scared; I didn’t know what would happen next, whether or not we would be all gone in a couple of hours. My friends were on their way to New Jersey and they saw all off this take place.

There was one story that made an impression on me. My friend’s mom was one of the people in the first building when it got hit. She said she didn’t really know what was going on. All she recalls is hearing a boom and big particles falling down. She then called her friend that was on a higher floor to see what was going on. Her friend told her that a planed crashed upstairs and everyone was trying to get out of the building in a hurry. She was afraid and thought a lot of people were going to die. Her reaction was to evacuate the building as soon as possible and get home.Click To Preview

In the future I feel that there will be a lot of problems because if U.S. starts military action the Taliban would retaliate. Who knows if any one of the boroughs would be in jeopardy of being bombed or terrorized? I don’t feel safe because just like we didn’t know that this was going to happen; how do we know if anything else will happen in the future? I want to leave N.Y., but I’m afraid of flying. How do I know if I will survive the trip out of New York? In January, I’m supposed to leave for the Army; but my family is having second thoughts about my departure. As for me, I still want to leave. A lot of my friends and casual acquaintances say I must be crazy to go at a time like this.Click To Preview

The reason I think people engage in acts of terrorism is because either they don’t care about their own life, or they had a lot of bad things happen to them. These people may have a lot of hatred towards the U.S. The United States must have done something awful to their country or their people in order for them do such a thing. It’s probably a way to get back at the U.S. for not helping them or something. My dad always told me that two wrongs don’t make a right; but this is one exception. What they have done was wrong, evil, and cold hearted. They should pay for what they did to America by getting the maximum amount of punishment.
