TEEN PEOPLE HALL OF FAME: EMINEM

WHO: The great white hope: 30-year-old rapper Marshall Bruce Mathers III, aka Slim Shady, aka Eminem.

WHY: In a word, talent. The Detroit homeboy's easy-flowing rhymes are punctuated with razor-sharp wit and clever wordplay. Oh, and did we mention he can act?

WHEN IT TOOK OFF: In February 1999, when Em's breakthrough single, "My Name Is" announced, "God sent me to piss the world off." He went on to do just that, with lyrics that spewed hate toward just about everyone and every group, most notably women and gays.

HOW: The fact that he's white made people take a first look, but his lyrical skills - validated by two Grammy Awards in '99 and three in 2000 - proved Em was no novelty act.
WHAT'S NEXT: He's not saying anything beyond wanting to promote acts (like 50 Cent) on his Shady Records label, and hinting at eventually wanting to take a full-time role behind the scenes.

TEEN PEOPLE HALL OF FAME: SARAH MICHELLE GELLAR

WHO: The TV vixen who slayed the critics and put us all under a spell.

WHY: The 25-year-old New Yorker turned L.A. resident is armed with adorable looks, a butt-kicking attitude, a gorgeous husband (Freddie Prinze Jr.) - and we still don't hate her for it!

WHEN IT TOOK OFF: "Acting was never pushed on me," said Sarah, who says sheer determination led her to the part of Kendall Hart, Susan Lucci's daughter on All My Children. The role of Hart led to an Emmy Award in 1995, and the actress went on to stake her claim on Buffy: The Vampire Slayer . Roles in movies like Cruel Intentions made her an MTV Movie Award favorite.

HOW: A former child actor, Sarah's steered clear of the Hollywood typecasting trap. "It's a way for fans to see I'm an actress, not Buffy," she said of her big-screen flicks.

WHAT'S NEXT: As Buffy enters its seventh season, Sarah said she's concentrating on television - for now. Her contract expires at the end of the year and word is she's not renewing it.
