College and Career Office

SAT II information

The college and career office offers students and their parents resources and counseling to assist them in the college and career selection process.

The two College Guidance Counselors will meet with students in groups and individually to help them select a list of appropriate colleges. We also have EXPAN, a computer program which will allow the student to explore colleges, scholarship and career information. This program will allow students to create a list of colleges according to their own criteria, investigate scholarships and complete the free Federal Financial Aid forms. Students are also able to research career information, training necessary for a particular career and schools which offer programs in that area.

The College and Career office urges all parents and students to attend College Night at Midwood High School in October and in May at Murrow High School. This will give you the opportunity to speak with college representatives, pick up applications and brochures from over 100 colleges.

Although graduation may seem a long way off at the present time, there are a number of steps that should be taken throughout a student's high school years to insure that he or she will be able to pursue the goal of college admission successfully.  The following timetable is being provided to you in an effort to make sure that Midwood students are fully prepared to  meet  that challenge.  Applications and information for the tests described below are available in the College and Career Office (room 115).
