During the course of the year you will be receiving many newsletters similar to this one.  Please read each one carefully and save them for future reference.  Also, get into the practice of passing by the bulletin boards outside the College and Career Office at least once a week.  There you will find announcements regarding scholarships, open houses, bus trips, etc.  Look for our special poster announcing the visits of college representatives to Midwood H.S.  Remember to come into the office at least once a week to discover new scholarships and mentorship opportunities that are available in our filing cabinets.

 

I.     COLLEGE COUNSELING APPOINTMENTS

              Ms. Will and Ms. Friedlander are now accepting interviews for the Fall term.  Parents are welcome to be part of the interview process.  Parents requesting early morning interviews (7:30 a.m.) will be accommodated where possible.  Interviews for the Fall term MUST be completed by NOVEMBER 23, 2005.

       C.  TEST OF ENGLISH AS A FOREIGN LANGUAGE   (TOEFL)    ( Saturdays)

                    TOEFL is recommended for non-native English-speaking students who have been in this          country for five (5) years or less as a means of determining if you are prepared for your chosen program of study in an English-speaking academic environment.  Check with the colleges you are applying to to determine if they require you to take this test.  Books are available in the College and Career Office. 

                    TOEFL is now administered by computer.  The computer-based TOEFL test is available       throughout the year by appointment only.  To register and schedule your appointment to test, call 1-800-468-6335 or visit the web site at http://www.toefl.org. to set up an appointment.  The fee for the computer-based TOEFL test is $100.00.

 

 

College Night will be held on Wednesday, October 19, 2005 from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m.
