SPECIAL EDUCATION DEPARTMENT

Mr. Steven Auerbach, A.P. of Special Education

A Little Bit About Us

The Special Education Department of Midwood High School is dedicated to the education of students with various learning and emotional disabilities according to the individual learning styles of each student.

The Special Education Department

Our department is headed by Mr. Steven Auerbach, A.P. of Special Education.  We have a  dedicated staff of teachers, paraprofessionals, and support staff committed to the high standards of Midwood for our students.  Our students graduate with a regular diploma and are transitioned to their selected post-secondary placements.   Many of our students are college bound and perform to expectations in college settings.

Students are expected to successfully complete the regular high school graduation requirements in a setting of least restrictive environment.    Tutoring is available for all Regents courses.  Students enrolled in mainstream classes are afforded the opportunity to attend mainstream support classes after the regular school day. Resource room and computer assisted learning are encouraged.
