EXECUTIVE INTERNSHIPS

THESE SPECIAL PROGRAMS OFFER ALTERNATIVES TO THE TRADITIONAL METHOD OF ACCUMULATING CREDITS TOWARD GRADUATION.

As educators, we know that not everyone is completely successful in a strictly academic environment.  Midwood High School gives its special education students the privilege of gaining credits through participation in our Executive Internship Program.

Students gain a full term’s credit applied to their transcript toward their diploma by spending the term working as an intern in various fields.  Field arrangements are made by the transition coordinator and are based on the career of interest of the student.  The student attends his internship daily for the full semester.   Close contact is maintained between the intern, Midwood H.S., the work site supervisor, and the contact person for executive internship programs.

Our most recent successful candidate in this program was an intern for The Museum of the Native American.  His special field of interest is art.
