Throughout the coming school year we will increase our efforts to promote environmental responsibility, especially through recycling activities at the school, educating our school community and culminating in an ECOFEST fair in April 2009.

Recycling Assembly Program - October 2007
Recycling Club - reuse education & projects, monitor training, newsletter,
signage
Staff notification of growing environment-themed library. DONATIONS WELCOME!
Coordination of lunchroom recyclable disposal - milk cartons, kitchen alumninum,
cardboard
Coordination of plastic/glass/metal recycling in staff room.
Recycling signage throughout the school
Mandatory office paper recycling
Voluntary classroom paper recycling with help of monitors
Recycling Fact of the Week on morning announcements.

Our A Tree Story School Opera was AMAZING and made us realize why we
should appreciate trees. The set was made almost solely out of Recyclables!

Three GIVEAWAYS in the school yard - 6/6, 6/13 and 6/24.

PTA approved purchase of BLUE recycling bins for the fall 2008.
2008/09 GOALS
In addition to continuing
and improving participation in programs listed above, we would like to :
Increase environment-themed
lending library and educational materials for all staff members
Coordinate recyclable disposal compliance at all large functions
Mandatory classroom paper recycling
Find and coordinate additional recycling opportunities - such as batteries,
electronics, etc.
Increase use of garden/set up compost for science and environmental education
Additional Spring Environment-themed assembly
Materials for the Arts PD workshop for staff
Art and Essay contests on the environment.
Work toward the Golden Apple Award!
