District 20 was awarded a Title VII System-wide Improvement Grant. The goal of the grant is to improve and restructure school programs to better facilitate our English language learners. Our school was chosen as one of the target schools because of our large population of English language learners. A Title VII staff developer will coordinate the implementation of the project. The school’s action research team is responsible for the planning and implementation of the project.  The first year is the planning year. Through action research, the team has completed a baseline study, including teacher and parent surveys, to identity the needs of our English language learners and their parents. Based on the research results, the team is currently working on the plans in the following major areas: staff development, curriculum development, restructured instruction, and parent involvement. If you wish to review these plans, please contact Ms. Lin, Resource Specialist, by phone at (718) 438-3230 ext.125. She will arrange an appointment to meet with you.
