Partnerships & Programs

Art Connections Grant: This grant, supported by the Liz Claiborne Foundation, provides for interdisciplinary instruction for selected 9th year illustration students. Field trips are made to many museums and an Artist-in-Residence works with students for part of the semester.

B.R.A.G. (Black Retail Action Group): The Black Retail Action Group (BRAG) prepares minorities for careers in cosmetology or entrepreneurship. The group is frequently visited by guest speakers from industry.

Fashion Crafts Educational Commission: The FCEC, the school Advisory Board, consists of corporate and union leaders from the fashion industries. The members help the school keep its vocational curriculum current, sponsor special school activities (as career fairs), and conduct fund-raisers for the scholarship fund which benefits students who are achieving in school.

F.I.T. High School Partnership Program: Selected Art students are involved with a Saturday program focusing upon college preparation, including SAT and portfolio training. An Artist-in-Residence is also provided to enrich classroom instruction.

F.I.T. Tech Prep Program: Juniors in selected majors may apply for admission to this "two + two" program, designed in cooperation with professors from the Fashion Institute of Technology. Students are prepared for college level work and those who apply to F.I.T. are given special consideration for admissions.

NADI: The National Association of Display Industries offers visual merchandising students an opportunity to design a display for their fall and spring show at the Javits Convention Center. NADI donates the space for the exhibit and provides scholarships for students.

National Association of Men's Sportswear Buyers: This organization sponsors college scholarships for seniors who plan to have careers in men's wear.

St. Francis College Bridge Program: For a nominal fee, students may apply for college credit for pre-certified high school merchandising courses.

St. John's Unviersity Bridge Program: For a nominal fee, students may apply for college credit for pre-certified high school art and illustration courses.

Underfashion Club: This charitable arm of the lingerie industry helps the school with donations of fabric and helps students with special scholarship awards, both while they are still in school and upon graduation.
