NEW SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE

1. ABENY, INC (Association of Black Educators of New York) Scholarships- awarded to graduating seniors- you must submit a resume, essay, transcript, SAT scores, 4 letters of recommendation, black & white photograph of yourself. Applications available in the College Office (Deadline April 14th)

2. Myself Third Scholarship- $2500 scholarships awarded to students planning to attend a CUNY college and who participated in a College Now class through Hunter or City College during high school. Applications available in the College Office. (Deadline April 1st)

3. Whitney M. Young Scholarship (Urban League)- $2,500 scholarships available to African American, Latino, Asian or Native American (Indian) background who have excellent character and proven leadership ability, committed to community service with an 80% or higher average.(Deadline April 1st)

4. Making It Count Scholarship- open to ALL Seniors!!!$1,000 Scholarship for YOU!!! Just log onto www.makingitcount.com/scholarship t o apply (Deadline June 15th )

5. Hispanic Support Organization of New York (HSO-NY) Scholarship- $2,000 scholarship awarded to Hispanic students! For an application go to http://www.hispanicsupportorganization.org (Deadline- Friday, May 7th)

6. The Women’s Bond Club Scholarship-$10,000 scholarship ($2,500 per year) for young women interested in pursuing a career in business and finance. Must be a female, US citizen, 80% or higher GPA, demonstrate proficiency in math/business courses and have a minimum SAT of 1000. applications are available from Ms. Holcombe in the College Office. (Deadline April 25th)

7 . Morris and Eve Brown Foundation Awards- $2,000 Scholarship awarded to seniors who will be majoring in either English or Foreign Language in college. Recommendations from English teacher required, as well as a copy of an English paper. See Ms. Holcombe for further information/ to be nominated. (Deadline April 15th).

8. CITE (Consortium of Information and Telecommunications Executives, Inc.) Scholarship- $2,000 scholarship awarded to African American Students! For an application go to http://www.forcite.org (Deadline May 7th)

9. Gateway to Success Scholarship- $5,000 scholarship available to seniors. You must write a 300 word essay on ”How I am Financing my College Education” and have a 2.0 GPA. Applications available online at loans4students.org - You must apply online ONLY! (Deadline April 12th)

10 . Student of the Year-CollegeBound Scholarship- Two $5,000 scholarships awarded! Seniors must complete an application and write a 300 word essay as if you are writing your autobiography…share the chapter entitled “My College Years”. Applications available at www.collegebound.net/soy (Deadline May 13th)

11. Nelnet College Scholarships- $1,000 scholarships given away each week to high school seniors- log onto www.collegeplanning3.nelnet.net through the end of March for a chance to win!!!
