Mission Statement
The Advisory Board Mission is to provide career enhancement and curricula
enrichment activities to the students of the High School of Fashion Industries.
This includes but is not limited to the following:
1.Support career fairs and other curricula activities that help prepare
students for the world of work and post-secondary education.
2.Support the Fashion Show that highlights the work of the students of
the High School of Fashion Industries.
3.Provide personal and professional contacts to assist the principal and
teachers in acquiring tools, supplies and equipment not readily available
through the Board of Education.
4.Support the establishment and implementation of mentoring programs to
assist students with their personal and professional development.
5.Provide personal and professional contacts to bring speakers into the
classroom to enhance and broaden the students’ awareness of real
life situations.
6.Provide personal and professional contacts to assist students in obtaining
financial aid for attending college.
7.Provide personal and professional contacts to assist students in obtaining
apprenticeships and permanent employment.
8.Raise money through fund-raising activities, corporate contributions,
individual contributions and gifts to provide scholarships and academic
incentives for the students of the High School of Fashion Industries.
Description of Executive Board Member's Activities
The following activities are typical of those engaged in by members of
the Executive Board:
1.Provide input into the discussions of committees and subcommittees.
2.Participate in the annual Career Fair and use their contacts to get
other professions to participate.
3.Support the annual Fundraising Event and other fundraising activities.
4.Assist in the promotion and marketing of fundraising events by buying
and selling tickets.
5.Use their influence and contacts to assist the school in acquiring the
various goods and services needed to the run the school successfully.
6.Support the Mission Statement to the best of their ability.
