Special Programs at Fashion

Adopt-A-Student: The Adopt-A-Student Program provides students with mentors who assist students in reaching a variety of educational, career and social goals by meeting with the students at school and at the mentor's workplace. This program provides a positive role-model as well as a sense of structure and responsibility.

Concurrent Options: Provides opportunities for fashion design students to make up failures in basic fashion design course, participate in tutorial work, or take additional credit in fashion design or fashion art. The classes meet two days a week; the student earns 1/2 credit each semester. For more information, see the Asst. Prinicipal/PPS in Room 127.

Executive Internship: Through this program you will work in a trade related job for one semester. You will NOT be paid for your, but you will be given credit for ALL the classes you would have taken had you been at Fashion during that semester. This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience in your major field. Sometimes, these experiences lead to job offers for students after they graduate. To be eligible for this program, you must be a junior or senior and have good grades, attendance and be in good standing with the dean. For more information, see the Asst. Principal/PPS in Room 127.

Fed Challenge: The fed Challenge is a national competition where teams of five students make a presentation and answer questions about Federal Reserve Bank economics in the United States Economy.

Learn Program: Through this Training Opportunities Program, you can have a paying job and get credit for trade class at the same time. You will take your academic subjects in the morning and report to your job site in the afternoon. To be eligible, you must be a junior or senior, 16 years of age or older; have accumulated the appropriate number of trade credits; have good grades, attendance, punctuality, and dean's record. You will work up to 15 hours a week and earn 3 credits for your major -- your boss will give you your grade. Because of the scarcity of jobs, enrollment in this program is very limited. For more information, see the Asst. Principal of Fashion Merchandising in Room 730.

Peer Tutoring: In Peer Tutoring students obtain individualized instruction on any subject area and help with their homework. Students can also do computer projects and get internet access.

PM School: A variety of classes are offered to provide students with enrichment and help to pass required RCT's in mathematics, science and social students. Classes meet immediately following the regular school day. When the budget permits, additional classes are offered to help students make up for previous failures in various subjects and provide for tutorials.

SAT Preparation: Each fall and spring, a series of SAT preparation classes are offered to familiarize students with this examination, required by many colleges for admission.

Science Tutorial: Incoming students are offered the opportunity to have an after school enrichment class once a week.
