Our Mission
The P.S. 15 community will provide a nurturing and intellectually stimulating
environment that will create life long learners who are productive members
of society. A foundation built on the strengths and individual learning
styles of its students will enable P.S. 15 M to foster a strong sense
of community, a commitment to learning and a respect for cultural diversity.
Enrollment
We currently have 307 students enrolled at P.S. 15 and we are still
growing.
We have 2 Super Start Plus Pre-Kindergarden classes with limited spaces
available. All of our Pre-Kindergarten through Third Grade Classes are
capped at 20 students.

Currilculum Features
Integration
At P.S. 15 we are introducing an intergration model for each of our
grades from Pre-K to Sixth. At each grade level we will offer a plus
class where regular education and special education students learn together.
Each classroom will be taught by each a regular education teacher and
a special education teacher.
Our Music Program
Students in kindergarden through third grade take music and movement
classes with Ms De Maria. Children regularly perform their work in school
assemblies. Students in grades five and six work with professional singer
and music teacher Ms. Berry. Students learn music theory and the history
of music, they sing in a choir, and practice playing instruments and
creating rhythms. They are also involved in programs through Lincoln
Center and Ballet Tech.
Computer Lab
Students in grades three through six take classes in our computer lab
that features 17 new computers, 2 scanners, 3 printers, and a digital
camera.
Studio In a School
Studio in a school is a collaborative art program that we have at P.S.15.
The artist in residence, Susan Greenstein, works in collaboration with
each teacher providing art experiences that strengthen and deepen the
classroom curriculum. We look forward to another year of meaningful
art experiences at P.S.
Our Library
Ms. Segal is our school librarian. She has created an organized and
welcoming library where students are invited to come in, browse, and
borrow books. Classes also visit the library to hear stories and discuss
what they have read. The shelves are well stocked with recent books,
including kids favorites such as "Goosebumps" and the Harry
Potter series. The library also has four computers that are online which
students use to do research.

Special Programs
Kapow
Volunteers from the business world visit our upper grade classes once
a month and introduce and discuss valuable work skills through a series
of motivating, hands on lessons. Students then get to visit their mentor's
real work place and see how all these skills get used in real life!
Power Lunch
Employees from Con Edision come to P.S. 15 for lunch on mondays and
wednesdays to read with our students. Some of our students have had
the same Power Lunch buddy for the last several years. It is a wonderful
opportunity for the kids at P.S. 15 to develop a positive and safe relationship
with an adult and discover the joy of a good book.
America Reads
Undergraduate students from NYU become tutors in our classrooms through
a work study program. This program makes it possible for those students
who need extra help in the classroom to have one on one support in all
areas, but especially in reading.
Teacher Center
(For more information on the teacher center click here)
Our teachers get in school support from our teacher center run by Janet
Moody. Ms. Moody reaches out to teachers by providing workshops, modeling
lessons for teachers, pushing into classrooms to help with projects
and offer advice, and by providing a comprehensive library of teaching
aids that include guides, materials, and lessons.
